CohenChessClub.com live lobby showing 6 simultaneous chess games in progress — GM Nathan4, Wali, Kristofer and other students competing in the MrCohenOS Arena tournament

Six games in progress on CohenChessClub.com — the custom platform where students compete in live arena tournaments every week.

Getting Started Is Simple

The chess club runs entirely on Outschool — a trusted platform for live, online group classes. Here's what happens after you enroll:

  1. Pick a time slot that works for your schedule. There are currently 9 weekly sessions available, covering Monday through Sunday, morning through evening EST.
  2. Mr. Cohen sends your child's login credentials through Outschool's messaging system before their first session — no separate registration required.
  3. Log in to CohenChessClub.com at class time. The tournament will already be set up and ready. Just join and play.
  4. Play, learn, and improve. Every session ends with post-game analysis and puzzles generated from that week's actual games.

Because Mr. Cohen provides every student's login, no personal email or private information is ever collected on CohenChessClub.com. Student safety is a top priority.

Weekly Session Schedule

All times are Eastern (EST/EDT). Sessions run approximately 55 minutes.

Monday — 11:00 AM & 7:00 PM
Tuesday — 10:00 AM & 4:00 PM
Wednesday — 4:00 PM
Friday — 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM
Saturday — 1:00 PM

Is My Child Ready?

Your child does not need to have played in a tournament before — but they should be ready for a genuinely challenging competition. Simply having learned the rules isn't quite enough. If your child has been practicing on Chess.com or Lichess and can handle a real game under time pressure, they're likely ready.

The arena format means they'll play multiple games per session. After each one they can pause, ask Mr. Cohen in the Zoom chat for feedback, and apply it in the very next match. The first session is often the most challenging as students get used to the pace — that's completely normal and exactly where the coaching makes the biggest difference.

Not sure? A few casual games on Chess.com or Lichess against similarly-rated opponents is the best way to gauge readiness. If your child is having fun and finishing games, they're ready.

Pricing

Sessions are $18 per class on Outschool. There is no long-term commitment — each week's session is a standalone class. You can join one week and skip the next; the tournament will always be fresh.

Outschool also accepts ESA funds, micro-grants, and some scholarship programs for eligible families.
